Friends of Revolutionary Rivers (FOREVR)
The Friends of Revolutionary Rivers (FOREVR) promotes awareness and stewardship of 60 miles of Lynches River and 6 miles of the Great Pee Dee River listed with the National Park System as SC Revolutionary Rivers® National Recreation Trail. This trail takes paddlers down Lynches Scenic River from the Lynches River County Park to the cypress and tupelo-laden stomping grounds of Revolutionary War hero General Francis Marion. A video with Field and Stream editor Eddie Nickens provides an overview.
Current FOREVR projects include:
- making paddling excursions available to underprivileged students and to individuals with physical, mental and/or behavioral disabilities
- clearing of fallen trees to make the full route accessible by boat
- promoting awareness of the historical significance of the SC Revolutionary Rivers trail
